An Express store will join H&M, the Gap, Filene’s Basement/Syms, Shake Shack, Aeropostale and other big-name retail stores on Fulton Mall in Downtown Brooklyn, it was announced Tuesday.

The national retailer has leased 10,000 square feet for 10 years on the ground floor at 490 Fulton St., the five-story, 250,000-square-foot mixed-use property acquired last year by Stanley Chera’s Crown Acquisitions and certain funds within Perella Weinberg Partners Asset-Based Value strategy.

Calling it “a transaction that underscores the strength of the Downtown Brooklyn market,” partner Isaac Chera said the firm is “delighted to welcome Express” to 490 Fulton.

“Fulton Street is one of the most important retail corridors … and momentum continues to build. We are proud to be a part of the revival of this historic neighborhood,” he said, noting that his company has owned retail properties there for more than 50 years.

He is also proud that the company is leading the way toward reactivating the long-vacant upper floors of many Fulton Mall buildings.

The Express store, which Chera said will open next spring, is in the same building where Long Island University has created its new graduate student dorm on floors three to five; Planet Fitness will occupy the second floor; and Filene’s has leased ground floor and basement space.
