The historic Coast Guard cutter and training ship Eagle is currently at Pier 7 on the Brooklyn waterfront as its final stop on a multi-city trip before returning to its home in Connecticut. The tall ship is celebrating its 75th anniversary as well as the 221st anniversary of the Coast Guard itself. During her many years of service, the Eagle has served as an ambassador for the Coast Guard, traveling to ports throughout the United States and overseas. The ship was seized at the end of World War II from Nazi Germany and was originally known as the Horst Wessel, named after an infamous Nazi leader.
