What’s Going On In Brookyn Heights This Weekend: August 19-20, 2011

“The Art of Brooklyn” film festival kicks off at St. Francis College in Brooklyn Heights this weekend: The festival will take place in the newly-renovated Founders Hall from August 20- August 27. Features include independent shorts and features in the genres of Comedy, Drama, Suspense/Horror, Documentary and Animation. A pre-show receptions in the theater lobby features food and drinks from local merchants, as well as live music and exhibits from local artists.

– Downtown Brooklyn will be ground zero for vampires, witches, warlocks, zombies and their fans this weekend when the annual Dark Shadows Festival comes to the Brooklyn Marriott.

Volleyball Skills Workshop:  Pier 6, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Friday, Aug 19, from 4 – 7 p.m. (Kids: 4 – 5:30 p.m.; adults: 5:30 – 7 p.m.). Also Sunday morning.

Hip Hop Dance Aerobics on Pier 1, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Friday, Aug 19, 7 – 8 p.m. Also, Zumba on Sunday.

Free kayaking with the Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse on Pier 1. Saturday, Aug 20, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Also Sunday.

Solar Power family program at Brooklyn Bridge Park: Saturday, Aug 20, – Sunday, Aug 21.

Bike New York bike class — Learn how to ride. Sunday at Brooklyn Bridge Park.
