United Way Brooklyn Bridge March on Brooklyn Bridge

More than 3,000 marchers joined in the United Way Brooklyn Bridge March this past Saturday to bring attention to growing disparities in health care, education and income. After marching across the bridge, a volunteer recruitment festival — with music, games and food — was held in Cadman Plaza Park in Downtown Brooklyn. According to United Way, half of all public school students don’t earn a high school diploma, one fifth of all New Yorkers live below the poverty line, and thousands of children lack access to basic health care.
