Brooklyn’s ‘Bucket List’ Near Downtown Shake Shack

Brooklynites have embraced artist Candy Chang’s public participation installation “Before I Die,” where passers-by finish the sentence, “Before I die I want to . . .” Some aspirations written on the giant blackboard include: “Go to Greece;” “Be what God made me to be;” “Skydive;” “Travel with my love;” “Have a wonderful family;” “Change the fitness industry;” “Build a better relationship with my daughter;” and “Learn to speak English fluently.”

The artwork surrounds the construction site for Shake Shack in Downtown Brooklyn at Fulton and Adams streets. (The Bucket List, starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, describes the adventures of two terminally ill men who head off on a road trip with a wish list of to-dos before they kick the bucket.)
