Bernice S. Wasserman, a former production manager of Science magazine and wife of the longtime Brooklyn Heights veterinarian, Dr. Bernard Wasserman, died October 14 at 85.
A graduate of Erasmus High School in Brooklyn and Hunter College, she became an avid supporter of the arts, with a particular love for opera. She was also known for solving crossword puzzles and for travel.

A friend of 54 years, Ivy Reade Relkin, now of Fort Lee, NJ, recalled that she first met Bernice on a double date, when Bernice was dating Dr. Wasserman, and “we just clicked.” She and Bernice often traveled together. Ms. Relkin remembered her friend’s wit, her interest in collecting Wedgewood china, and her love of cats.

Survivors include Dr. Wasserman, their sons Harvey and Andrew, and grandchildren Jake and Sarah. The family welcomes contributions in Bernice Wasserman’s memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
