Seven developers have responded to requests for proposals to build a hotel and residential complex next to Pier 1 in Brooklyn Bridge Park, the Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation announced on Tuesday night.
Private development in the park, which has been a controversial element of the park plan, is being used to help pay for the park’s annual maintenance.
A request for proposals (RFP) was issued in August. The seven proposals that have been submitted came from Dermot, Extell, RAL, SDS, Starwood Capital Group (with Alloy Development, Hamlin Ventures and Monadnock Development), Toll Brothers and Two Trees.
An initial presentation of the designs to the Community Advisory Council was made in a public meeting at Borough Hall on Tuesday night. It is expected that these seven will be winnowed down to finalists and that a final selection will be made early next year.
The development will include between 170 to 225 hotel rooms and 150 to 180 residential units.
