A new “shop local” campaign — First Wednesday on Montague — will be launched this January 4. Dozens of Montague Street businesses will be offering special deals on the first Wednesday of every month from January through June.
To kick off the campaign, the Montague Street Business Improvement District (BID) is hosting a free event on Jan. 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. at St. Ann’s Parish House, 157 Montague St. There will be a photo booth, jazz performed by the Lucas Dedmon quartet, and complimentary wine, hors d’oeuvres and hot-spiced apple cider. Children will also get to learn and play chess on a giant chessboard from 5 – 6 p.m. The event is open to the public.
Montague Street is the main commercial thoroughfare in Brooklyn Heights, anchored by the Brooklyn Heights Promenade on one end, and the historic Brooklyn Borough Hall civic center on the other. The four-block street is lined with businesses and restaurants that will be offering special deals during each First Wednesday on Montague, from 5 to 8 p.m.
A full list of participating businesses and offers can be found at www.MontagueBID.com/firstwednesdays.
First Wednesdays on Montague is presented by the Montague Street BID. A not-for-profit organization, the mission of the Montague Street BID is to improve all aspects of Montague Street, from beautifying the public realm to supporting local merchants and national retailers.
